This Mourvedre is a blend of 75% Luna Matta and 25% Shokrian vineyards. The weak, hilly, calcareous soils of Luna Matta always produce miniscule yields of powerful, small berried Mourvedre which yields a wine that is relatively dark and robust. Shokrian is grown on equally weak, sand dune hills that coupled with north facing slopes yields a late ripening, low sugar, spicy and floral wine. Both wines were blended at the press and aged in barrel as a single wine in neutral French oak. Hauntingly beautiful floral and spice aromatics and perfect palate weight and minerality merge together as the truest varietal Mourvedre we have produced.
