New World meets Bordeaux again. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from Happy Canyon AVA, (which always shows a more nuanced, graceful side of Cabernet Sauvignon, being likened to some degree to Bordeaux vs. say, Napa) and Adelaida District in Paso Robles, where the diurnal swings and calcareous soils (there are literally fossilized whale bones strewn around the vineyard!) contribute to pronounced varietal notes, assertive tannin and refreshing acidity. The 28% Petit Verdot is from Adelaida and lends some dark fruit complexity and good minerality and acidity.
This wine has a classic Bordeaux blend tasting profile, displaying dark fruit and earth tone notes with good herbaceousness and subtle, well integrated oak.
