Bottle Size: 750ml
This Zinfandel is a bit of a departure stylistically from our prior vintages. This wine is extremely ripe and displays a set of flavors that only emerge at these high levels of physiological ripeness. While the initial notes are quite raisined, a bit of patience and some decanting reward with a mind boggling level of complex, unique and unexpected flavors and almost none of the briary, brambly notes that Zinfandel is notorious for. Being from Westside Paso, this wine still has great acidity and structure. This wine is an interesting study in Zinfandel; even when it is super ripe the flavors are still part of the savory/umami spectrum.
New Release TN’s:
Date Tasted: December, 2020
Nose: Deep and heady aromas ranging from currants, and blackberry preserve to more ripe and jammy notes of prune lekvar, raisins, and honey. Layered over more high toned notes of red cherry, and punchy umami and savory earthtones of graphite, garrigue, root veggie, sun dried tomato, roasted yams, and incense.
Mouth: Ripe exotic and complex palate with flavors ranging from bright raspberry, and goji berry, to deeper jammier flavors, and accented with warm and spicy notes of coffee, red cinnamon, and white pepper. Medium acidity and tannin help this massive wine stay alive and expressive.
