Possibly the very first kosher Lagrein. Lagrein is a variety originating from the Alto Adige region in the Italian Alps. DNA analysis has revealed that it is a relative of another very deeply pigmented Northern Italian grape, Teroldego and both are descendants of Syrah. It shares some similarities with Syrah, having a very deep color and similar dark berry fruit profile. Lagrein tends to have more robust tannin and can be more rustic in style. In the vineyard it needs a lot of heat to ripen well. Our Lagrein is from warm climate east Paso and displays stunning fruit aromatics and great structure and richness.
