Description
2017 Donnachadh Syrah:
Varietal: Syrah
Vineyard: Donnachadh (pronounced Donn-a-ka)
Region: Sta Rita Hills, Santa Barbara, CA
Bottle Size: 750ml
Our first Syrah from the cool climate Sta Rita Hills appellation. 100% clone 470 Syrah which we like for it’s complexity and classic Rhône like profile. Deep and dark, and displaying meat, olive and savory notes, although throughout the fermentation the dominant theme was Asian five spice. Donnachadh is a very exposed and extreme site. Strong coastal winds and steep hills, where yields stay low and the resulting wine very concentrated.
New Release TN’s:

Nose: Insane, overtly complex nose. Orange marmalade, bacon, blackberry reduction, dried blueberries, slightly reductive, dark chocolate, brooding, leathery, spicy, charcuterie, raspberry reduction, briny, kelp finish .
Mouth: good fore mouth attack. Prominent mouthwatering tannin. scorched earth, black tea. Fascinating Syrah and a captivating, thought provoking wine.
