Description
2016 White Hawk, Syrah
Varietal: 97% Syrah, 3% Viognier
Vineyard: White Hawk Vineyard
Region: Santa Barbara County AVA
Bottle Size: 750ml
This Syrah is made from some of Santa Barbara County’s most sought after fruit. From the famous White Hawk Vineyard’s sand dune-like upper slopes, luck was with us for the 2016 vintage and we got 1.5 tons of their most coveted Clone-6 Syrah. We co-fermented the Syrah with about 3% Viognier. White Hawk tends to be ultra concentrated fruit bomb stuff but with great lively acidity and gorgeous herbal and savory nuance. Aged for almost two years in four French oak barriques, one of them a new Tremeaux which imparted sweetness, smoke, cinnamon and toasty oak. This wine is a BEAST and while enjoyable now, requires cellaring and decanting to realize its full potential.
New Release TN’s:

- We found this wine more enjoyable in Bordeaux shaped glass.
- Decanting is highly recommended but tastes great upon opening too.
