Varietal: 100% Grenache
Vineyards: Murmur Vineyard & Talbert Vineyard
Regions: Santa Maria Valley & Willow Creek District, Westside Paso Robles
Bottle Size: 750ml
The 2016 Grenache is a 50/50 blend of Grenache from Talbert Vineyard in Willow Creek, where fruit achieves very high physiological ripeness while maintaining it’s intense acidity and minerality. Grenache from the historic Murmur Vineyard in Santa Maria adds an unparalleled level of beauty and complexity to this blend. We have found cool climate Grenache to have a very firm structure even though it does not have the color of say Cabernet Sauvignon or Syrah. We don’t put any new oak on our Grenache to highlight the beautiful varietal purity and flavor profile.
New Release TN’s:
Date Tasted: Dec. 2018
Nose: Deep core of exotic red fruit and floral perfume, balsam woody spiciness and some lees.
Mouth: Juicy, punchy, tannic and good minerality. Hauntingly beautiful red fruit. Sweetness and body are buffered by the dry tannic structure and minerality.
Additional Notes: – Drink chilled to mitigate alcoholic heat. We have found this wine to show better in Bordeaux shaped glass
– This wine is enjoyable now but cellaring is advised. Decanting for a few hours (3-5) will help it open up.
– Pair with lamb and fatty food to counter the tannin
– Drink now through 2029
