2016 The Coalition
Varietals: 50% Tannat, 33% Touriga Nacional, 16% Zinfandel
Vineyards: Bella Collina, Cira, Rotta
Regions: Adelaida, Willow Creek, Estrella Districts, Paso Robles
Bottle Size: 750ml
France’s Tannat, Portugal’s Touriga Nacional and Croatia’s Tribidrag (Zinfandel is genetically identical to the older Tribidrag) unite together in this Coalition, each component bringing its strengths to a blend that is better and more balanced than the sum of its parts. The Tannat, grown on steep limestone slopes provides ripe cherry fruit, color and structure. The Touriga Nacional provides very complex, spicy notes and the Zinfandel contributes intense acidity and more red cherry fruit. This Coalition is another winner.
New Release TN’s:
Date Tasted: May, 2018
Nose: Rich, ripe black cherry, incense, briary, peppery notes
Mouth: Thick, dense, good acidity, very fine but structured tannin. Flavors of fresh dark cherry fruit, minerality, scorched earth, raw meat. Great complexity and very enjoyable.
