A small berried, very dark and tannic variety originating from the Madiran region of Southwest France. Tannat really shines planted here in California on the calcareous slopes of Westside Paso Robles.
Very dark and saturated color. Aromas and flavors of ripe black cherry, boysenberry and cassis jam, creme brulee and yams. 25% new Hungarian oak barrels add assertive, toasty oak and an herbal juniper note. Very full bodied with great, refreshing acidity and minerality and tannin that is both gripping and velvety.
